Creative sparks ignited when a then 18-year-old explosion of energy called Emjay first moved to Amsterdam’s Red Light District. From a small and dodgy room equipped only with a set of second-hand turntables, he witnessed the rise of underground electronic music movements. Fired up by a passion for nightlife in a surreal surrounding of 24/7 sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, Emjay became nocturnal by nature. Raised under the wings of neighboring prostitutes, he developed a style as dirty and rocking as the District itself with a natural born DJ talent to elevate a crowd to near hysteria.
Today, Emjay decided to create a movement of futuristic warriors. The result is the shameless new act Emjay & The Atari Babies. Their first single ‘Stimulate’, signed by renowned DJ legend Paul Oakenfold and his UK label Perfecto, has been skyrocketing throughout Europe. Accompanied by a brilliant video clip, now running on high rotation on all major stations, the rebellious meets chic girlz bring together a conscious agenda addressing world issues and a dramatic, off the wall show. With influences skittering from the loud look of Gwen Stefani to the sex appeal of the Pussycat Dolls and inspired from 80s Pop to the Dance of 2006, from Depeche Mode to Goldfrapp, Alter Ego to Giorgio Moroder. Combined with a martial arts style in movements, the glimmers of dirty burlesque theatre and rock opera, translate their glam rockin’ beats into massive shows where performances meeting pounding music whip up a storm.
